Wanstead

If you need to be in London but dream of living somewhere with a village vibe, hip coffee shops and lots of green space, Wanstead is definitely your ‘location, location, location’. Life goes at a steady pace here in E11, with a strong feeling of community. There are numerous independent shops, a farmers market on the first Sunday of the month, a Local Makers Market for its artisans, but it’s the variety of pubs and gastropubs that really sets the area apart from others. The Bull, which is around 100 yards from Wanstead Central Line Station, has a large pub garden out front on the High Street, which really comes alive during the sunny summer months and when national sporting events are broadcast. The Cuckfield is also nearby, offering a splendid drinking and dining experience. If restaurants are more your thing, Wanstead offers a variety of cuisines; Otto is highly recommended by a member of our team – he goes there frequently for their excellent food and service.

For a town situated in London, the amount of green space open to the public is astonishing. Wanstead Park is a fantastic location to go for a leisurely stroll or bike ride; perhaps take a picnic to enjoy at the edge of the lake, or a fishing rod during the open season. If you looking to be a little more active, there are local clubs for playing tennis, bowls and golf. A little way south of the park, on the other side of Aldersbrook Road, is Wanstead Flats, which is a large, open green space with views of the City of London.
