What the owners say:
"Our parents bought 'The Withens' in 1963. They changed its name to 'Gogolewo' which is the name of our mother's home in Poland. Our property adjoined the Monkhams Lawn Tennis Club which we accessed through our back garden gate.
The large garden is our pride and joy, particularly the variety of birds and butterflies it attracts. We planted many varieties of flowers, especially roses, fruit and nut trees which each year yield an abundance of produce.
Throughout the decades we have celebrated memorable events such as Christmas and New Year, christenings, milestone birthdays, bonfire parties, endless barbecues and a grand wedding reception. Our home was our sanctuary and family life was filled with friends, love, laughter, generosity and hard work. The heart shaped tree in the drive is our memorial.
Years back, Woodford historians photographed the garden's steep steps and adjoining red brick walls. They date back to the 19th Century when the Barclay family owned the Monkhams Estate. These features were part of the Estate's beautiful formal gardens and renowned water fountains."
